The smartphone market has become big business, and several Chinese companies want a piece of the action. At a major mobile communication Conference in Barcelona, two of these companies have made their stand.

Here at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, two Chinese mobile communication companies are unveiling their latest smartphones. It's the largest exhibition and conference for the mobile industry in the world, and two Chinese companies, Huawei and ZTE, have their sights on dominating the market.

[Ben Wood, Analyst]:
"Five years ago, it was Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson. Now brands like Huawei, from China are arriving with very, very aggressive ambition. They are saying they want to sell 60 million smartphones this year."

Part of Huawei's strategy, as well as their other Chinese rival ZTE, is to sell their smartphones for 15-20 percent cheaper their Western counterparts, while still offering high quality devices.

Huawei unveiled its new Ascend D, which runs on Google's Android software.

[Frederic Fleurance, Huawei Global Product Marketing Director]:
"As soon as you will touch a screen, it will be faster, much much faster. So anything that you will do on looking at videos, gaming, browsing you will have a much faster reaction time in your device."

This may mean trouble for companies like Nokia and Blackberry, which are struggling to survive in a market they once dominated.
