The funeral for American pop star Whitney Houston will take place later.

A memorial service is being held at the same small church in Newark, New Jersey where Houston honed her singing skills.

Stars including Kevin Costner and Oprah Winfrey are expected to attend, but it is not known if former husband Bobby Brown will be there.
