A forensics team loads victims of the devastating Honduras prison fire into a truck.

According to a senior official at the attorney general's office, more than 350 people died in Tuesday's blaze.

Many of the bodies are unrecognizable, and medical teams are working around the clock to try to identify them.

Crowds of grief-stricken relatives gather outside the jail desperate for news of their loved ones.

"I feel sad because here we have lost our family. Here I have my son and he appeared to have been in the fire. He could not leave his cell because the doors were closed."

It was one of the worst prison fires ever in Latin America, and local radio reports said many inmates were burned to death inside their cells.

The prison had housed more than 850 inmates, well above its capacity.

The Honduran President has ordered a full investigation, and vowed to raise prison standards.
