Another explosion has hit a gas pipeline between between Egypt and Israel west of the Egyptian coastal town of al-Arish.
The pipeline, which also supplies gas to Jordan, has been attacked at least 12 times since Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was toppled last year.
Security in Sinai slackened after Mubarark's fall as the police presence thinned out across Egypt.
The country's 20-year gas deal with Israel, signed during the Mubarak era, is unpopular with some Egyptians and critics have accused Israel of paying to little for the gas.
Egypt said in November it would tighten security along the pipeline by installing alarms and recruiting Bedouin tribesmen to patrol it.
Sinai has long been a troubled area, where Bedouins complain of government neglect and an absence of any benefit from the several Red Sea resorts with five-star hotels it hosts.
