If there's one person in Hollywood who knows how hard it can be to win an Oscar, it's Martin Scorsese. He's been nominated seven times for best director, but only took home the award once, for "The Departed."

Now the famed director is dominating the award circuit with his film, "Hugo" - the most nominated movie this year with 11 Oscar nods. Scorsese said that when he heard the list of nominees announced, he was excited, but tried to stay humble.

SOUNDBITE: Martin Scorsese saying (English):

"I've been around long enough to know that one must not be too excited and expect too much because things turn out the way they turn out, but very, very excited because maybe it will get more people to see the picture, especially in 3D because 3D is a special use in this film."

And the film has been praised for its use of 3D. Scorsese said he believes the genre is here to stay - as long as audiences can brush off the lackluster 3D movies that have littered the marketplace in recent years and keep giving it a chance.

SOUNDBITE: Martin Scorsese saying (English):

"There may be some films that continue to be made that might just use it as a gimmick, but overlook that if you can and try to find, and hopefully filmmakers will be able to embrace the technology, but be more flexible, which it is becoming already, and ultimately, I think, the idea of possibly losing the glasses which people are working on."

"Hugo," which has grossed almost 90 million dollars worldwide, is now playing in theaters. Both the movie and Scorsese will be up for an Oscar when the awards are handed out on February 26.
