Israel mulls annulling Oslo Accords

Views 13

Israel's National Security Council has been charged with examining the annulling of the Oslo Accords as a response to the Palestinian Authority's plan to gain unilateral statehood recognition at the United Nationsin September. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's office confirmed that the council is examining a number of alternatives ahead of September and will present them to the political echelon for a decision when completed. Israeli officials believe the Palestinians will skirt the Security Council and will appeal directly to the General Assembly, in order to avoid a potential American veto. The Palestinian proposal is expected to receive the backing of more than 140 UN members.
