Views 34

The fighting which broke out over the weekend between Russia and Georgia has brought Israel's intensive involvement in the region into the limelight. This involvement includes the sale of advanced weapons to Georgia and the training of the Georgian army's infantry forces. Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni is to convene a meeting of senior ministry officials on Sunday to deal with the flare-up, amid concern that Israeli arms sales to Georgia could harm relations with Russia. While current conflict could have a major impact on Israeli-Georgian relations, no change in Israeli policy has been announced as of yet. 08/10/08
