A Russian journalist has asked for political asylum inIsrael saying he will be in danger if he is forced to return to his hometown. Sergei Kuznecov who arrived in Israel nearly a month ago, is still waiting for a response from Jerusalem to his request. Currently he is staying at Ben Gurion Airport until a solution is found he said. Kuznecov worked as a journalist for Svoboda Radio in his hometown Yekaterinburg but said he was forced to flee the country after he published a series of reports on corruption there. Kuznecov said the authorities have been hassling him for several years especially after the International Crime Court in Hague ruled the authorities were infringing on freedom of speech.
