Israel Festival celebrates 50 years

Celebrating its 50th anniversary the Israel Festival has chosen to focus on Israeli work alongside international productions this year as it celebrates its jubilee with 50 performances and artists from over 20 different countries. From May 24 to June 17th,classical ballet and modern dance, theater, jazz, opera and classical music performances will take place. Israeli singers such as Ahinoam Nini, the Batsheva Dance Company and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra are among the local performers appearing in this year's festival. Main attractions include Germany's Schaubuhne Theater and Russia's Vakhtangov Theater. The former will perform a modern version of Shakespeare's Hamlet and the latter Anton Chekov's Uncle Vanya.
