Following the implementation earlier this week of a law that will worsen conditions for Hamas prisoners in Israeli jails, the Palestinian Authority has sent official complaints to the United nations Secretary General and to the United Nations Council for Human Rights. The new law named the Shalit Law aimed at securing the release of the Israeli soldier Gillad Shalit, was passed this week by a committee of Ministers and will see conditions for Hamas prisoners worsen as long as Gilad Shalit is held captive. Meanwhile there has been an angry reaction to the naw on the Palestinian street and Palestinian Authority sources say the Israeli move will not speed up efforts to release Shalit, there have also been threats by Hamas to worsen conditions for Gilad Shilat in response to the Israeli law.
