Professor Livescu the only Israeli killed in the massacre at Virginia Tech which claimed 32 lives, pushed up against the classroom door to prevent the gunman entering the class. He was killed for his efforts, but his students remain alive.Romanian born Livescu and his wife are both Holocaust survivors and only due to the intervention of the late Prime Minister Menahem Begin were they allowed to leave Romania and travel to Israel.
