At a recent meeting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas asked outgoing Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to release Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti in the upcoming prisoner release scheduled next month as a goodwill gesture to the Palestinian Authority on the occassion of Eid al Adha Abbas also reportedly asked the prime minister to release Popular Front Secretary General Ahmad Sadat, who was involved in the murder of former Tourism Minister Rehavam Zeevi. Israel last freed Palestinian prisoners on August 25, during a visit by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who has been trying to broker a peace deal. 11/19/08
