Government Agrees To Release 200 Palestinian Prisoners Some

Despite opposition among coalition members the government on Sunday agreed to release 200 Palestinian prisoners, some with blood on their hands, as a gesture to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Several ministers opposed the decision, demanding that progress should be made to secure the release of soldier Gilad Schalit before more prisoners are set free. Almagor the terorr victims organization opposed the decision saying themove throws Israel back to the days of the Oslo Accord when hundreds of Israelis were killed in terror attacks. Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni supported the deision, Transport Minister Shaul Mofaz opposed it.08/17/08
