Hollywood A-listers took to the red carpet to laud the arguably most important people in film at the 23rd Annual Producers Guild Awards (PGA) Saturday (January 21), held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California (United States).
Celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who are film producers themselves, joined actors Viola Davis and James Cromwell in raising a glass to the powerful industry heavyweights that make the movies happen.
Angelina Jolie, who has produced some of her own films in the past and recently directed "In the Land of Blood and Honey," says that a great deal of being a good producer is knowing to follow your gut instincts. Jolie was on hand at the PGA to receive a special award for her film, about the Serbian war of the 1990s.
SOUNDBITE Angelina Jolie saying (English):
"I think you have to be doing things for the right reasons, and you have to be clear on those reasons, so even when people come against you to say or tell you what they think you meant, or tell you what they think you're doing, you know in your heart what you're doing, and you kind of move bravely forward just knowing your intentions are in the right place. But it's, especially with this kind of material, it was a really big challenge, and the whole cast took it on, and it was really brave for them."
On the evening, "The Artist" went on to win the top honor for best picture, giving it more steam on its journey towards the biggest award event of the season, Oscar night.
