This is the scene of Wednesday's bomb attack which killed Iranian nuclear scientist Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan.
Many in the country are pointing the finger at the U.S. and Israel.
Now a hardline Iranian newspaper has gone one step further by calling on the clerical establishment on Thursday to take retaliatory measures against Israel for the killing.
A senior lawmaker told state television that the attack appeared to be the work of Western powers.
(SOUNDBITE) (Farsi) IRANIAN LAWMAKER, KAZEM JALALI, OVERLAID WITH VIDEO OF CAR OF AHMADI-ROSHAN:
"These types of terror attacks seem to be the work of foreign , Western, American-style attacks. And, in the past, it's been proven that some of these terrorist attacks bear the hallmarks of foreign, Western systems."
Many in Iran believe the attack was an effort by the U.S. and Israel to derail Iran's nuclear program.
Iran's ambassador to the United Nations insists his country's nuclear activities are peaceful and said the killing should be condemned.
(SOUNDBITE) (Farsi) IRAN'S AMBASSADOR TO THE UNITED NATIONS, MOHAMMAD KHAZEI:
"I have confirmed that Iran's nuclear activities are peaceful and it is therefore expected that the international community will condemn these types of terrorist activities."
While Israeli or Western involvement in the killing seemed entirely plausible to independent analysts, a role for local Iranian factions could not be ruled out.
