Winter has arrived in full force in Austria.
Here in the west of the country they've seen over a metre of snow - and the risk of avalanches is high.
A weekend storm front brought winds up to 130 kilometres per hour as well of tonnes of fresh snow.
A local police official said avalanches can't be blasted because of the weather, which means many roads will have to stay closed.
Forecasters are expecting another metre of snow to fall by Tuesday.
But half way around the world, New Yorkers are spending this winter weekend enjoying the balmy weather.
In New York City, temperatures have soared above 15 degrees Celcius - meaning families are free to enjoy comfortable picnics on the snow-free grass of Central Park.
And in Philadelphia, some residents put their ice skates away and went rowing instead.
Meteorologists say December temperatures in the region were the warmest in five years.
