Thailand's revered King Bhumibol Adulyadej celebrates his 84th birthday.
Hundreds of thousands of Thais lined the streets outside the Royal Palace to catch a glimpse of the king.
King Bhumibol Adulyadej travelled by van from Siriraj Hospital with Queen Sirikit by his side to the Grand Palace to give his annual speech at the balcony of Chakri Throne Hall.
In his speech, King Bhumibol called for unity in light of the recent floods that have devastated the country.
Thais said they were proud of their king, but also worried about his health.
After the ceremony, the King returned to the hospital, which has been his home since September 2009. He has spent 65 years on the throne and is the world's longest reigning monarch.
Celebrations will continue into the evening and will include a fireworks display.
