Today is World AIDS day, and in China, the UN is launching a campaign to end discrimination against people with HIV and AIDS.

UNAIDS released a video on Chinese social media to call for the end of workplace discrimination against HIV/AIDS patients. The video features photos of people holding anti-discrimination messages.

Lack of education about HIV and AIDS has led to widespread discrimination, especially employment discrimination, against patients. And the UN says that discrimination is a "key obstacle" to preventing the spread of HIV, as people are less likely to seek prevention or treatment.

Experts estimate that there are around 780,000 people in China living with HIV or AIDS, but cases in recent years have been growing.

UNAIDS has been encouraging people to send in photos of themselves for the anti-discrimination campaign, which are displayed on the UNAIDS Weibo page. So far, more than 10,000 people have participated.
