Supporters of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega celebrate in the streets of Managua - as the one-time revolutionary looks set to be re-elected based on preliminary results.
The mood here is electric.
(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) OMAR JARQUIN, ORTEGA SUPPORTER, SAYING:
"The people won. The truth won. Peace and love. Daniel Ortega won fearlessly. Those that don't like, too bad."
Ortega has overseen a period of economic progress in his five years in power - backed by financial aid from his socialist ally in Venezuela Hugo Chavez.
A former commander of the Sandinista rebel army that took power in a 1979 revolution, Ortega has solidified his hold on the Central American country with programs to improve living standards and education.
But he's also been blamed for undermining democratic institutions.
Before the elections he amended the constitution to allow for a third term and some critics fear he aims to stay in power indefinitely.
