Amy Winehouse had more than five times the legal driving limit of alcohol in her blood when she died on July 23. According to a coroner's report, the singer had 416 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, compared with the legal driving limit of 80 mg. The findings backed reports shortly after her death that Winehouse had been trying to deal with her addiction but ran the risk of complications from binge drinking. The inquest ruled that she died of "misadventure."
The defense called a string of character witnesses on Wednesday (October 26) in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray. Each witness testified that Murray was a competent doctor who treated them with care. Prosecutors made sure to point out -- Murray's treatment of each was done in a monitored environment with the help of a large staff, not at a home alone, such was the case with Michael Jackson.
In other Jackson news, the singer has been named this year's top-earning dead celebrity in a list compiled by Forbes.com. It's the second year in a row that the singer tops the list following his death in 2009. He is estimated to have earned 170 million in the past year, which also places him as the second highest-earning pop music act this year, dead or alive.
Finally, one week after actress Lindsay Lohan left a Los Angeles court in handcuffs, her estranged father Michael Lohan faced a judge on Wednesday (October 26) over charges of domestic violence. Lohan made his first appearance at a Tampa court, where a judge set bail at 5000 dollars. He issued a stern warning to Lohan, telling him to stay away from his girlfriend, who accused him of assaulting her.
