Cat Vs. Dog: Pros and Cons - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Hello, my name is Dr. Carolyn Quagliata. I am the owner and founder of City Pet Doctor, New Your City's premier house call vet practice. People always ask me, 'should I get a cat or a dog.' I will give you a few tips on what each entails. First, a dog needs to be taken out several times a day. Needs to be fed at least twice a day. Generally, needs a fair amount of exercise every day. At least two to three long walks and obviously, if you work very long hours, you will need to make sure your dog is walked. A cat, on the other hand, lives mostly indoors, if not strictly indoors. They also need to be fed one to two times per day. Their litter boxes need to be cleaned. And they also need a lot of attention and companionship.
