Parts of the southern province of Sichuan are seeing some of the worst flooding in over 160 years. Particularly hard hit is Guang'an City, with water levels in one river 30 feet over the warning level.

Torrential rains have ravaged many parts of Sichuan Province since Friday night, particularly in Bazhong, Dazhou and Guang'an cities with local traffic and communication suspended.

Guang'an City suffered the worst floods Monday since records began in 1847. Residents were evacuated ahead of the arrival of the storms.

The water level of the Qujiang River, which runs through Guang'an City, has topped 86 feet at 2:00 am Tuesday morning, more than 30 feet over the warning level. It's the highest flood peak ever recorded in the history of Guang'an City.

Xiaoxi Town in Guang'an City was inundated and swallowed by floodwaters.

More than 7200 people from 11 villages have been resettled on higher ground.

Thankfully the floods have since receded in Bazhong City.
