In this video North Carolina attorney Michael A. DeMayo answers the question: What should I do if my application for Social Security Disability is denied? We generally recommend that when someone has been denied, which is a very common occurrence, they contact us or another lawyer who handles SSD within 60 days of the date of the denial, because that is the time that you have within which to make an appeal. If you fail to make an appeal within 60 days, you have to reapply and get denied again, which can be a time consuming process.
