Many in this crowd believe the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have unfairly impacted Muslims and civilians.
Mohammad Hussain Mehnati, heads the Karachi chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan's largest religious political party.
SOUNDBITE: MOHAMMAD HUSSAIN Mehnati, Chief Of Karachi Chapter Of Jamat-E-Islami saying:
"The incident of 9/11 was a drama. It was a conspiracy hatched by (U.S. president George W.) Bush. The U.S. administration was used to stage this drama. Afghanistan was targeted and attacked immediately after it. Today, the whole Islamic world is the sufferer."
Thousands of Pakistani soldiers have been killed in fighting along the border. The perception of high civilian deaths from drone attacks has only sharpened rage ainst the U.S.
Similar demonstrations took place throughout the country. Anti-American sentiment runs high despite billions of dollars in aid for the armed but impoverished country.
