We return to the Dasaswamedh Ghat (steps). We are reunited with our boatman who rows us out onto the Ganges shortly after sunrise. We witness morning ablutions, and see more votive candles placed on the Ganges. Remnants of pyres from the previous night’s cremations are seen. Washing from the “outdoor laundromat” manned by members of the Dhobi Caste ’s is plainly seen on a dedicated ghat. The sun low above the Ganges adds to the spiritual, almost metaphysical aura.
