Packing Tips for Long-Term Travel - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats.

Some long term travel packing tips I have, probably the best thing you could do is kind of do a test run. Pack everything or, you know, put everything out, and then cut it into half, honestly. Take half of it away and then you will probably have a pretty good packing list. But as far as once you do finally decide what you are going to take, for a long term traveler who might be a backpacker or even, you know, taking a rolling suitcase, this is fine too.

One of the things I do to maximize my space is roll your clothes. So instead of folding them all nicely like you may see them in the store its actually more efficient to roll them and put them in your bag. You normally get less wrinkles and it takes up less space.

The other thing to do if you are a long term traveler and you are managing, you know, living out of the backpack is how do you keep, you know, things separated once you have dirty clothes. Because if you live out of a backpack, quiet frankly, it can get very smelly. So what I try to do is have kind of a system for separating my very very dirty clothes from my slightly dirty clothes, that I could probably wear again, to my brand new clean clothes.

I just basically do that through a series of plastic bags because its cheap and you can get them anywhere. You know just regular things you pick up from the store basically, and that is how I will separate things. And sometimes they even have certain colors, so I know which one is the dirtiest and less dirty, etc.
