Greece nearly bankrupt, while Denmark plans to reintroduce border controls. Europe's community policies are stagnating. One reason is that many EU countries are very much focused on themselves.Two of Europe's biggest acccomplishments are the freedom to travel and the euro. Greece's near bankruptcy and Portugal's and Ireland's financial problems have put the single currency under pressure. EU members disagree over how to deal with their neighbors' financial crisis, while the European Council is an institution that has a hard time unifying the countries. Passionate Europeans are a rare breed these days, and Brand Europe has become an increasingly hard sell.
