Nobel laureate and Auschwitz survivor Elie Wiesel received the inaugural United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Award on Monday for his role in shaping public understanding and remembrance of the Holocaust. The award is being offered during the 50th anniversary year of the trial of Adolf Eichmann, the most famous post-Nuremberg public recounting of the Nazi genocide of Jews during World War II.
