Tracfone is actually available in some of your favorite retailers like Walmart, Kmart, Radio Shack, Rite Aid, and Family Dollar. They've been around for over 12 years and continue to be the largest no-contract cell phone company in the US. Low cost doesn't mean reduction in quality.
