Locals in one north Indian city are experiencing high temperatures, making it difficult to venture outside. But there are some local remedies that can help people beat the heat. Here's more.

Locals in Rohtak City of India's Haryana state are facing high temperatures, as hot as 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

Most people have been forced to stay indoors.

One person offers some ways to make the heat more bearable.

[Shruti Grover, College Student]:
"We can reduce the heat by planting trees, which is a very common remedy and the most effective."

Another person says eating fruits like watermelon and muskmelon can help beat the heat.

[Shilpa Sharma, Student]:
"As much as possible, one should drink coconut water or eat coconuts, watermelons or musk melons and other fruits, do not eat hot things and do not go in the sun during the daytime. These are the remedies to beat the heat."

The months of May and June are the hottest, and the state weather department has issued advisory to not go out in the sun between noon and 4pm.
