Options in Traditional Wedding Cakes - as part of the wedding series by GeoBeats.

Hi, I'm Angie Jiles of Blue Note Bakery in Austin, Texas. Some of the more popular traditional style wedding cakes are the White Cake with the white butter cream. You can do different textures with that, either having it very smooth or doing kind of that thing, what I call the Grandma Texture which is kind of that pillowy kind of look to the butter cream. Another traditional style is covering the whole thing in Fondant, which gives a very smooth clean line to your cake. And you can add little few embellishments to it or just leave it just real simple with a ribbon around the border of each tier.

Another option for more traditional is doing kind of a funky flavor on the inside that's not so supper traditional but hasn't taken you away from your tradition. So keeping it kind of white but maybe adding a little bit of lemon curd or fresh berries or going as wild as like a lavender butter cream or something like that, but it still has that same clean line, and that clean white look. And that's, those are really good ways of keeping that tradition and traditional look going.
