On Tuesday, Pakistan test fired a newly developed short-range surface to surface ballistic missile.

The missile is capable of delivering nuclear warheads with high accuracy and has a range of 35 miles.

The missile was test fired at an undisclosed location and senior officers, scientists, and engineers witnessed the firing.

Pakistan carried out nuclear tests in May 1998 just days after similar tests by its nuclear rival, India.

The two carry out missile tests regularly and Tuesday's exercise is not expected to lead to any increase in tension between them.
