A Ukrainian Navy ship drops off some 80 of its 193 evacuees from Libya in Malta's capital city Valletta on Tuesday. Here's more.

A Ukrainian Navy landing craft carrier arrived in Valletta's Grand Harbor on Tuesday with 193 passengers from Libya. It including many oil workers and their families, it had evacuated from Tripoli.

80 passengers disembarked in Malta.

The rest stayed on board and will continue their journey with the ship.

The passengers include 22 Britons and 20 Americans.

There are also French, Serbs, Bulgarians, Tajikistanis, Italians, Libyans, Irish and Slovakians on board, as well as Ukrainians.

The British High Commissioner in Malta, Louise Stanton, said at the scene that many of the workers had initially decided to stay in Libya but had then changed their mind.

Their journey from Tripoli to Malta took 19 hours.

Some of the evacuees say they had decided to leave because of the worsening situation in Tripoli, with increased tension and petrol and food shortages.
