Scientists from India's Defense Research and Development Organization successfully test-fired an interceptor ballistic missile on Sunday.

The missile was launched from a test range off the coast of India's eastern Orissa state.

The interceptor missile intercepted the ballistic missile at an altitude of ten miles and blasted it into pieces.

India's defense minister praised the scientists and others associated with the design and firing of the missile.
