Students from a local high school in India's Bihar state became violent after seven of them were expelled. They were caught cheating during an exam.

Students became violent on Monday after seven of them were expelled for cheating in a high school examination in India's Bihar state.

Students threw stones and broke vehicle windows. The violence began after one female student apologized to a district magistrate for cheating. But the girl was kicked by the official.

[Ramesh, Witness]:
"Basically, six to seven students were expelled. One of the girls caught cheating was asking for apology but the DM (District Magistrate) kicked her. All this is happening because of this incident. It is also being demanded that all students expelled should be taken back and allowed to take the examination again while the present one should be cancelled."

Roads were blocked for several hours as the students vandalized public property.

The police eventually brought the situation under control.
