Thousands gathered in Dragon Park in central Thailand on Thursday to celebrate Chinese New Year's Eve.

They gathered to pray and wish for good fortune in the Year of the Rabbit.

[Banharn Silpa-archa, Former Thai Prime Minister]:
"We spent 10 years to build the giant dragon and the park to contain 4,000 years of China's history for Chinese ethnic and the public to remember people here to learn and remember about China and our history."

The ten million dollar structure is a huge fiberglass cloud dragon spraying water next to the city pillar shrine.

Inside the structure is a museum of Dragon Descendants.

"I have learned a lot about our Chinese origin from here. I've learned about how our grandparents migrated to Thailand and what they did when they first arrived. Most of Thais are Chinese origin."

It's the third year that the Chinese New Year celebration was held in the park. The celebration features artist performances and fireworks.
