Two packages have exploded in the mailrooms of two Maryland state government buildings.

No one has been seriously injured, according to a federal law enforcement official.

The official said one was in the mailroom of the Maryland Department of Transport facility in Hanover while the other was in a mail-handling facility in a state building in Annapolis.

The packages detonated, erupting into smoke and flames, but that no one was hurt or seriously injured and no one was taken to the hospital.

The official said the Maryland state police was the lead agency investigating, and that the FBI and other federal law enforcement agencies were assisting.
