As Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao starts his three-day visit to India, Tibetans-in-exile, take to the streets to protest against the Chinese regime's rule over Tibet.

Tibetans living in exile in India hold demonstrations in the capital New Dehli on Thursday, as Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao starts his official three-day visit.

Carrying Tibetan flags and portraits of their spiritual leader, the protesters call for an end to human rights violations by the Chinese regime in Tibet.

[Doorjee, Tibetan Protestor]:
"In Tibet itself we don't have human rights. As of now we people are suffering very badly. Language genocide recently, just before one month our Tibetan language has been changed to the Chinese language. So our people are suffering human rights (abuses). We want our rights back."

Another protester says Chinese authorities are targeting Tibetan culture.

[Tenzing, Tibetan Protestor]:
"China has already snatched Tibet, now they trying to kill the Tibetan identity, culture and language. Today, in Tibet's schools, Tibetan language is neither written nor read. They are converting our religious books into the Chinese language. Tibetan children growing up there would not know anything about our heritage."

Many protesters were arrested, and forced into security vans.

The Dalai Lama was granted asylum in India after fleeing Tibet following a failed uprising in 1959. He now lives in Dharamsala in India's north.
