This is a region that I've recent become fairly passionate about exploring simply because it brings such a unique and distinctive take to what is normally a strictly fruit driven varietal, Malbec. New world malbec from Argentina is taking the US and indeed the world wine market by storm, which is great news for Argentina and even Chile as it brings South American wines as a whole into the spotlight. Being that I tend more towards old world flavors in my personal preference, I was delighted when I found that an entire region was dedicated to this varietal in southwest France. If you haven't tried a Cahor yet, I highly recommend you do. If not for the quality and preference, just as a comparison between the different regions and the impact that can have on the end product. http://nathandoesvino.com
