David Hasselhoff could take Simon Cowell's seat on Britain's Got Talent, whilst Simon focuses on launching US X Factor.

Hasselhoff was a judge on America's Got Talent for four years but quit in January, saying he wanted to embark on his own reality show project.

However, there were reports that TV chiefs did not renew his contract amid claims his battle with alcohol had made his position untenable.

The former Baywatch star is currently in London rehearsing for his role as Captain Hook in the New Wimbledon Theatre's Peter Pan pantomime.

Auditions for Britain's Got Talent 2011 are due to start next month.
