Now that winter weather has arrived in parts of China, Asia and Europe, migratory birds are escaping the chill by traveling to the warm wetland reserves in Indian Kashmir. More than 200-thousand birds make the trip, bringing color and life to the reserves.

Now that winter has almost begun, more than two hundred thousand migratory birds have flocked to India's Kashmir valley from Central Asia and China, making their way to wetland reserves.

Authorities are expecting more than a million migratory birds at wetlands this year.

The early arrival of birds signals that the temperatures in their native countries have taken a dip.

Officials at the Hokersar reserve say the birds came early because of the comfortable weather and availability of food.

The winged visitors from Siberia, China, Central Asia and Northern Europe add colors and vibrancy with their chirping at regional wetlands and fresh water lakes.

These birds begin their flight to Kashmir in early September and stay until spring.
