[Dr. Gabi Avital, Former Chief Scientist]: (Male, Hebrew)
“Point blank, it comes down to the fact that I was let go because of my beliefs.”

Dr. Gabi Avital served as the chief scientist for Israel’s Ministry of Education for ten short months.

Dr. Avital has a background in aeronautics and space research. During his time in office, he gave public interviews in which he openly expressed opinions challenging a variety of popular scientific theories.

[Dr. Gabi Avital, Former Chief Scientist]: (Male, Hebrew)
“What turned the academic world in Israel against me in the matter of Darwin’s evolution theory, was my belief that the origin of man, the origin of the universe, and the transition from inanimate to life were the doing of a force of creation.”

Dr. Avital believes that scientifically speaking, there are some essential defects in Darwin’s evolution theory.

[Dr. Gabi Avital, Former Chief Scientist]: (Male, Hebrew)
“Darwin’s theory does offer some explanation, for example, regarding species, there is some logic there, yet the theory as a whole, from the scientific angle, is very flawed. The flaws should be open to discussion, study and research.”

His removal from office has started a public debate in Israel.

[Shimrit Karnibad, Accountant]:(Female, Hebrew)
“I am all for providing children with all the options, not limit them to just one. Evolution or the Bible, let them decide what they believe in.”

[Abraham Griver, Pensioner]: (Male, Hebrew)
“Such a scientist should go with the Ministry of Education, not against it… The Ministry of Education sets the direction and he should follow it.”

[David Bedein, Investigator]:(Male English)
“The act of the Government of Israel, daring to censor the chief scientist of Israel is absurd. Just because he says that we had not descended from apes, from monkeys, what is this?”
