Massive floods triggered by days of torrential rains have forced more than 330-thousand people to flee their homes in southern China's island province of Hainan.

More than a thousand villages are inundated with floodwaters affecting more than 2.5 (two and a half) million people.

At least one fisherman died and three others are missing since the rains began back on September 30th.

The floodwater begun to retreat on Sunday, but more rain is forecast in the region through Monday.

The region, well-known for its lush forests and sun-soaked beaches, has suffered nearly $170 million in losses due to the bad weather.
