Following a high profile meeting in Washington last week, the Palestinian Authority and Israeli government agreed to resume direct talks in the hope of reaching a peace deal within a year. The Palestinians however, have made it clear that they will quit the negotiations if Israel resumes the construction of settlements on Arab lands.
