On Monday, a mob of protestors in Srinagar brought life to a standstill.

Gathering in large numbers, they staged a protest against the killing of youths by Indian police, and clashed with security forces.

The protestors threw stones at police, who fought back by opening fire and throwing stones back at the protesters.

So far no causalities have been reported.

The Kashmir valley is witnessing a surge in separatist violence. It's forced authorities to impose frequent curfews in several parts of the disputed region.

Over 60 people have been killed in the past three months in what's been one of the worst outbreaks of violence... since a separatist revolt against New Delhi broke out in Kashmir in 1989.

India holds 45 percent of the disputed Himalayan region while Pakistan controls a third.
