Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown has not split with her film producer husband, Stephen Belafonte.

The couple were the subject of furious media speculation over the weekend, with reports suggesting the marriage was over, and that Mel B would return to the UK from LA where she lives with her husband.

A Sunday newspaper reported that Stephen had called them to say his marriage with the British popstar was over.

The Leeds-born singer wed Belafonte in 2007 just six months after her split from actor Eddie Murphy, the father of her three-year-old daughter Angel.

Mel also has an 11-year-old daughter, Phoenix, from her first marriage to dancer Jimmy Gulzar.
