More heavy rain across northwest China on Friday, causing mudslides and flooding.

State-run media say that in Longnan, in Gansu Province,15 people are dead and more than 10,000 are trapped following torrential rains and landslides.

Official figures say that more than 1,100 people died in the nearby town of Zhouqu. That was from a massive landslide last weekend after unusually strong downpours. But residents have said that the death toll is much higher.

Heavy rain is expected in the next few days and could bring more floods and landslides.
