The Australian federal election is less than two weeks away. But Australians living in the UK and vacationing there are now able to cast their ballots in London.

Australian voters cast their ballots in London for the upcoming election to vote in a new government.

It is estimated that 400,000 Australians are living in the UK.

The thousands of Australian tourists visiting London during the next two weeks are also eligible to vote while on vacation.

In the 2007 election, over 15,000 people cast their votes in London.

Australian High Commissioner to the UK John Dauth, says with the election so closely-fought, it's vital for Australians to make the effort to vote.

"There's every possibility that in some seats overseas votes will make a difference and so that's why I think Australians should, if they are traveling or if they live overseas and are enrolled, should vote."

The latest News poll gave Prime Minister Julia Gillard's Labor a four point lead, with the government on 52 percent compared to 48 percent for the conservative opposition.

"I just think Labor's wasted a lot of our money in the last three years. We've all these things that they've spent money on, and something's happened and it's gone wrong and we are not happy with that."

"Labor handled the financial crisis very well. And I don't think that they've had enough acknowledgment for the fact that they did that. We are just about the only country in the world that hasn't gone into a recession and I think if they are allowed to continue handling the economy I think they will do a good job."

Back home, Australians will go the polls on Saturday, August 21.
