The H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu, has claimed another life in India today. A 27-year-old man lost his life after contracting the virus in Hyderabad City.

The swine flu death toll in India's eastern Orissa state is up to four with the death of a 27-year-old software engineer, in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

According to hospital officials, Biswanath Ekka was admitted to the hospital on Thursday morning in critical condition. He died that afternoon.

Officials say Ekka was infected with H1N1 virus in Hyderabad.

His family members were also examined.

The state health minister says the Orissa government is doing everything it should to prevent the spread of the virus… advertising through newspapers and electronic media to create awareness among the people.

"So government has kept a very strict watch on the development on the situation and now we have been trying to educate the people and sensitize the people. We are advertising in newspapers and electronic media."

Four people have died of swine flu in the state since August 1.

The H1N1 virus, better known as swine flu, created panic and fear worldwide in 2009. The virus is generally found in pigs but has the same symptoms as any seasonal flu.
