Paul, the octopus oracle once again put his tentacles to the test on Tuesday when he predicted Spain to win their World Cup semi-final against Germany.
The octopus, who lives at an aquarium in Oberhausen, is now practically a world star. So far he has a hundred percent record for predicting Germany's results. After his latest prediction most Germans will hope he is wrong for once.
Aquarium worker Sebastian Krueger hoped Paul, in a moment of confusion, got his boxes mixed up: "Paul opted for Spain this time, which is a little sad. Paul did his job fast, as we like him to do. I just hope for Paul that he can have another try and that this time he has been wrong for once."
Krueger was hopeful that Paul was having an off-day due to the last encounter between Spain and Joachim Loew's men, the European Championship final in 2008 where the Spanish ran out 1-0 winners.
"The disappointment is slightly bigger, because the last match against Spain we didn't show our best side. This time, after what we have achieved already and also against Argentina, I am convinced we just wipe them off the ground. That's why I think, he just didn't look right", he said.
Paul will have another chance to show off his tentacles if Germany beats Spain on Wednesday. The octopus oracle would then have the chance to predict the final Germany against Uraquay or the Netherlands.
